Search Arrest, Mugshot & Inmate Records by Name
Search by name and state for arrest, booking, mugshot, inmate, jail roster, prison, criminal and court-record search categories.
Independent records-search resource. This website is not a government agency, police department, sheriff's office, jail, prison or courthouse. Search coverage varies by source and jurisdiction. Find the Right Portland Booking Record
A PDX Oregon mugshot search is usually really a search for a recent arrest, current jail custody, charges, bail or release status. Oregon’s booking-photo rules mean the official answer may be a custody record without a public mugshot.
This guide routes you through Multnomah County, Portland Police, PDX airport police, metro-area jails, Oregon courts, DOC and VISOR so you can verify the record instead of trusting an old photo repost.
What Are You Trying to Find Today?
The keyword “PDX mugshots today” combines several different user intents. Choose the task first so you do not waste time in the wrong database.
Best order: arrest location → arresting agency → current jail custody → booking details → court case → VISOR if release or transfer notifications matter.
Why PDX Mugshots May Not Be Public
Oregon does not operate like states where every county publishes an unrestricted public booking-photo gallery. ORS 133.870 generally prohibits a law-enforcement agency from releasing a booking photo unless a statutory exception applies.
Examples of permitted situations can include release to the person depicted, another law-enforcement agency for a law-enforcement purpose, or public release when the agency determines there is a qualifying law-enforcement purpose. Other statutory exceptions may also apply.
Practical meaning: finding a valid Portland arrest or Multnomah County custody record does not guarantee that a booking photograph will be publicly displayed or released to a general requester.
| User needs | Best official route | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Current jail status | Multnomah Adult in Custody | Current custody does not guarantee a public mugshot. |
| Booking photograph | MCSO records request when appropriate | Release remains subject to Oregon law and exemptions. |
| Police incident report | Correct police agency | A sheriff jail record is not the city police report. |
| Court outcome | Oregon Judicial Department | A booking record does not show the full case outcome. |
Portland, PDX Airport or Portland Metro?
“PDX” can mean Portland generally or Portland International Airport specifically. The Portland metro also crosses county lines, so the correct custody source depends on where the arrest actually occurred.
Portland / Multnomah
For most arrests occurring inside Portland, begin with Multnomah County’s jail system after identifying the arresting police agency.
PDX Airport
If the event happened on airport property, Port of Portland Police may be the law-enforcement agency that created the police record.
Metro Area
Hillsboro-area or Oregon City-area arrests may instead belong to Washington County or Clackamas County.
Best identifier: arresting agency + arrest location + receiving jail is much more reliable than simply searching the word “Portland.”
Search Multnomah County Adults in Custody
The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office operates Portland’s primary county corrections system. Its corrections page links directly to the Adult in Custody search used to locate people currently held in the county jail system.
Open the official custody search
Use Multnomah County’s official Adult in Custody system before trusting private PDX mugshot pages.
Search the legal name
Start with the surname. If needed, try the full legal name, alternate spelling or a version without a suffix.
Compare identifiers
Use age or date of birth when available, custody facility, booking information, charges and identifiers rather than name alone.
Check the housing facility
A person may enter the county system downtown and later be housed at Inverness Jail.
Move to court records
Once booking is confirmed, use Oregon court records for hearings, filed charges and later case events.
Recent Portland Arrest Not Showing?
A failed roster search does not automatically mean the reported arrest never happened.
MCDC vs Inverness Jail
Multnomah County Detention Center
1120 SW Third Avenue
Portland, OR 97204
The downtown Detention Center is inside the Justice Center and serves as Multnomah County’s booking and release location.
Multnomah County Inverness Jail
11540 NE Inverness Drive
Portland, OR 97220
Inverness is a separate corrections facility in Northeast Portland used to house adults in county custody.
Do not mistake a facility transfer for a new arrest. Movement from the downtown Detention Center to Inverness can simply mean the person changed housing within the same county jail system.
Portland Arrest vs Jail Booking
An arrest and a jail booking are related but not identical events. Portland Police publishes an arrest-statistics dashboard, but PPB explicitly notes that its arrest data includes citations in lieu of arrest and that arrests do not always result in a jail booking.
| Record | What it answers | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| PPB arrest record | Whether Portland Police documented an arrest event. | That the person was housed at Multnomah County jail. |
| County booking record | That the person entered the county corrections intake system. | Final guilt or final court charges. |
| Current custody result | Whether the person currently appears in jail custody. | Every historical arrest or booking. |
| Court case | Filed events, hearings and later case results. | Where the person is physically housed at this moment. |
Is the Portland Arrest Statistics Dashboard Live?
No. The Portland Police arrest-statistics dashboard is useful for trends, dates, charges and aggregate analysis, but PPB states that it is updated approximately 15 days after the end of each month. It is not a real-time named-person jail lookup.
Multnomah County Bail: Check Before Paying
The Sheriff’s Office directs users to call the Multnomah County Detention Center for bail instructions before posting money.
Justice Center Lobby
1120 SW 3rd Avenue
Portland, OR 97204
MCSO currently says in-person bail may be posted here 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.
Inverness Self-Bail
11540 NE Inverness Drive
Portland, OR 97220
MCSO currently lists self-bail at the Inverness lobby daily from 7 AM to 3 PM, and also identifies TouchPay options.
- Confirm the correct person
- Check every charge separately
- Ask whether another hold exists
- Verify current bail instructions
- Confirm payment method
- Use only official payment channels
Scam protection: never send jail-release money by gift card, wire transfer or private payment solely because an unsolicited caller claims immediate payment is required. Verify through the jail itself.
Multnomah County Jail Visitation
MCSO provides social and video visitation. The Sheriff’s Office currently advises people to call before travelling because weekend social visitation can be affected by staffing.
Video-duration note: MCSO’s current visitation page contains inconsistent duration references for video sessions. Use the Securus scheduling screen and current jail instructions to confirm the actual length when booking.
Mail, Phone Calls, Funds and Property
How to Address Jail Mail
MCSO routes inmate mail through Inverness Jail even when the person is housed at the downtown Detention Center. Use the name the person was booked under and include the SWIS ID number.
INMATE MAIL
[Booked First Name] [Booked Last Name] – SWIS #[number]
11540 NE Inverness Drive
Portland, OR 97220
Include your own return address.
Phone Calls
- The public cannot call directly into jail to speak with an adult in custody
- Personal calls are monitored and recorded
- Three-way calls are prohibited
- Personal calls are subject to time and attempt limits
- Securus handles jail telephone service
- Facility staff can address threatening or harassing jail calls
Depositing Money
MCSO identifies TouchPay for adult-in-custody trust accounts. Its current facility number is 297204.
Do not mail cash or ordinary payment instruments for the trust account. MCSO says cash, personal checks, cashier’s checks and money orders sent through mail are not accepted for these deposits.
Property Release
An adult in custody may authorize release of their stored personal property. MCSO states that the person in custody must complete the release form first; jail staff will not initiate it simply because someone arrives at the lobby.
Request a Portland Police Arrest or Incident Report
If Portland Police Bureau created the report, use Portland’s public-records system rather than asking the Sheriff’s Office for a city police report.
PPB Public Records Unit
PPB advises contacting this line when a request has been pending more than three weeks without response.
Automated Records Information
Use for information about requesting a Portland Police report.
No normal walk-in records counter: PPB states that the Records Division no longer operates a public counter for in-person service. City policy generally requires requests through the online portal or an accepted mail process rather than ordinary phone or email submission.
- Person’s full name
- Approximate arrest or incident date
- Incident location
- Police report number if known
- Specific document requested
- Preferred delivery method
- Your contact information
- Fee estimate request when appropriate
“I am requesting the publicly releasable police report associated with [full name] and an incident occurring on or about [date] in Portland. The report number is [number, if known]. Please advise of applicable fees, exemptions or additional information needed to identify the record.”
Request Multnomah Jail or Booking Records
MCSO uses an online public-records portal and also accepts qualifying requests by mail. Corrections records that may be requested include custody information, charge lists, intake forms, classification records, jail calls and booking photos where legally releasable.
Record-holder rule: use MCSO for sheriff and corrections records, PPB for Portland Police reports and Oregon Judicial Department for court records.
Identify the record holder
Do not send the same vague request to the sheriff, police and court.
Use the county records portal
MCSO identifies the Multnomah County Public Records Center as its preferred route.
Request one specific item
Give full name, approximate booking date and the exact custody or booking record you need.
Expect legal review
Records can be redacted or withheld when Oregon law restricts disclosure.
“I am requesting releasable jail booking and custody records for [full name], believed to have been booked on or about [date]. If a booking photograph is lawfully releasable, please advise whether it is available and what restrictions or fees apply.”
Portland International Airport Arrest Records
An incident at Portland International Airport can involve the Port of Portland Police Department rather than Portland Police Bureau. The police report and the later jail record may therefore come from different agencies.
Port of Portland Police
Use this contact when the incident occurred on Port or PDX airport property.
Port Public Records Help
The Port’s Records Program Manager can assist with the public-records process.
Current Port Police Records Pricing
| Record | Published flat-fee starting point |
|---|---|
| Police accident or police report | $30 per incident plus qualifying staff time beyond the included allowance; one free copy is available to a crime victim. |
| CCTV recording | $50 per incident plus qualifying additional staff time. |
| Body-worn camera recording | $132 per incident plus qualifying additional staff time. |
Two-agency workflow: use Port of Portland Police for the airport incident report, then identify which jail or custody system received the arrested person.
Check the Multnomah County Court Case
Oregon Judicial Department’s free records search provides public access to basic case information and court calendars for many Oregon state court cases. More detailed records can be requested from the Multnomah County Circuit Court Records Department.
Multnomah Court Records
1200 SW 1st Ave, Room 3315
Portland, OR 97204
Court Date or Warrant Information
Use option 5 and have the case number or defendant’s identifying information ready.
Booking charge ≠ final court outcome. The court register may later show amended allegations, hearings, dismissals, pleas, judgments or other case events not reflected on the original jail entry.
Wrong County? Check the Arrest Location
Multnomah County
Use for most Portland jail bookings and people held at MCDC or Inverness.
Washington County
Washington County publishes a current custody search plus a 24-hour arrest-and-release log.
Clackamas County
Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office now directs users to its newer Adults in Custody application.
Do not county-hop randomly. Search another county only when the arrest location, arresting agency or receiving facility supports that jurisdiction.
When to Use Oregon DOC
County Jail First
For a fresh Portland arrest, use Multnomah County or the correct metro jail first.
Oregon DOC Later
Use Oregon Offender Search when the person may have entered state correctional custody or supervision.
Oregon DOC provides Offender Search as a public information service. For an official or certified offender record, DOC directs users to its public-records process.
If you are unsure whether the correct source is a city police department, county jail, state DOC or court, use our mugshot lookup guide for a broader jurisdiction-first workflow.
Use Oregon VISOR for Custody Alerts
Oregon VISOR is the state’s current custody-notification system. It can search individuals in custody and let users register for custody-status notifications.
- Search full or partial name
- Search State SID number
- Search County ID when known
- Register for release notifications
- Register for transfer notifications
- Receive other custody-change alerts
- Choose phone, text, email or TTY
- Keep registration information confidential
VISOR 24/7 Help
Use for website, registration and notification assistance.
Oregon DOC Victim Services
Use for Oregon DOC Victim Services questions.
Not an emergency service: VISOR data is updated through participating systems and should not replace direct law-enforcement confirmation for urgent safety decisions.
Old Portland Mugshot Still Online?
Oregon law separately addresses certain booking-photo publications that charge people for removal. ORS 133.875 contains removal and liability rules for qualifying “publish-for-pay” publications.
If an old private mugshot page does not reflect a later dismissal, set-aside or other court development, first obtain the official court disposition. Then use the publisher’s correction or removal route and consult the Oregon statute when it applies.
This section is informational, not legal advice. Eligibility for record set-aside, sealing or another remedy depends on the specific case and current Oregon law.
Verify the Person Before Sharing the Record
- Full legal name
- Middle name or initial
- Age or date of birth
- Correct arresting agency
- Correct Oregon county
- Arrest or booking date
- Current jail facility
- Charge description
- Booking or case number
- Matching court record
Do not identify someone from a photo or name alone. A screenshot, social-media post or old third-party mugshot page is a weak identity match without official location, date and case confirmation.
Consumer-reporting warning: do not use this guide or jail-mugshot information for employment, tenant screening, credit, insurance or other decisions governed by consumer-reporting laws. Jail-Mugshots.org is not a consumer reporting agency.
Before You Trust a PDX Arrest Result
- I identified the correct county and arrest location.
- I confirmed the arresting agency.
- I used an official custody source.
- I matched more than the person’s name or photo.
- I did not assume every arrest became a jail booking.
- I did not assume a public mugshot must exist.
- I checked the court record for later case events.
- I recorded the official source and date checked.
PDX Oregon Arrest and Jail Booking FAQs
Where can I search PDX Oregon arrests and jail bookings today?
For most Portland arrests, start with the official Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Adult in Custody search. It is the primary current-custody route for people booked into the Multnomah County jail system.
Why does a Portland jail record sometimes have no public mugshot?
Oregon law generally restricts law-enforcement agencies from releasing booking photographs except in specified circumstances. A valid custody or booking record can therefore exist without a publicly displayed mugshot.
Does a Portland Police arrest always mean the person was booked into jail?
No. Portland Police explains that arrests can include citations in lieu of arrest, and an arrest does not always result in a jail booking. Use the Multnomah County custody system to confirm whether the person actually entered county jail.
What is the difference between MCDC and Inverness Jail?
Both are Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office facilities. The Multnomah County Detention Center is the county booking and release location in downtown Portland, while Inverness Jail is a separate corrections facility in Northeast Portland.
What if the arrest happened at Portland International Airport PDX?
An airport incident may involve the Port of Portland Police Department rather than Portland Police Bureau. Use the Port police and records routes for the incident, then identify the receiving jail for current custody.
How do I request a Portland Police arrest or incident report?
Use the City of Portland Public Records Request portal. Portland Police states that the City generally does not accept ordinary public-records requests by phone or email and that the Records Division no longer has a public walk-in counter.
How do I check charges and the court case after a Portland arrest?
Use Oregon Judicial Department’s free records search for basic case information and the Multnomah County Circuit Court Records Department when you need court records or help locating a case.
When should I search Oregon DOC instead of Multnomah County jail?
Use Oregon DOC Offender Search when the person may have entered Oregon state correctional custody or supervision. For a fresh Portland arrest, start with Multnomah County jail custody.
How can I get release or transfer alerts for someone in Oregon custody?
Use Oregon VISOR. The statewide service lets users search custody information and register for notifications about releases, transfers and other custody-status changes.
Can I use a PDX mugshot or arrest record as proof that someone is guilty?
No. An arrest, booking record or mugshot is not proof of guilt or conviction. Check the later court record for filed charges, hearings, judgments and case outcomes.
