Cash deposit
Family and friends may come to the Sheriff’s Office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and deposit money at the Administrative Office. The Sheriff’s page says cash deposits only are accepted for this route.
Certified money order
A certified money order may be mailed to the office. Put the inmate’s name in the memo section so the payment can be associated with the correct account.

Scioto County Jail Commissary and Access Securepak Care Packages
The Sheriff’s page says the jail operates an inmate commissary for items such as hygiene items, candy, chips, snacks, stamped envelopes, paper, pencils, coffee and board games. Items from the public are not permitted, accepted or allowed inside the jail.
Order through the kiosk
All commissary items must be ordered from the Scioto County Jail Commissary Kiosk. Do not bring or mail ordinary store items for an inmate.

Commissary Refunds After Release
If an inmate is released with unused commissary funds, the Sheriff’s page says the inmate can request a refund at the Administrative Office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The released inmate must have a photo identification card. Remaining funds are issued on an Access Freedom debit card.

The inmate roster shows custody and booking information. Scioto County criminal cases can route through Portsmouth Municipal Court, Scioto County Common Pleas Court, or both, depending on the charge.
Portsmouth Municipal Court hears criminal and traffic violations that occur within Scioto County. Misdemeanor criminal cases in that court carry a maximum incarceration period of twelve months and a maximum fine of $1,000.
Felony charges may initially be handled in Municipal Court until a probable-cause hearing. If probable cause is found, the case can be sent to Scioto County Common Pleas Court.
