Lincoln Lancaster Mugshots, Current Inmates and the Official Nebraska Record Path

A search for Lincoln Lancaster mugshots can mean several different things: a person who is in the Lancaster County jail right now, a free Lincoln Police arrest photo, an older Lincoln Police arrest record, a court case, or someone who has already moved into Nebraska state custody. Those records are not interchangeable.

This guide starts with the official Lancaster County Adult Detention Facility search, then shows exactly what to click next for release or bond, court dates, free court research, personal mail, video visits, inmate money, phone messaging, police reports, work release, house arrest, inmate signatures and Nebraska custody alerts.

Use extra care with names and photos: Lancaster County warns that mistaken identification can occur and that its inmate page is informational rather than an official court record. An arrest, booking entry or photograph does not establish guilt.

First Decide Which Lincoln or Lancaster County Record You Actually Need

This one decision prevents a large amount of wasted searching.

Person may be in jail now

Use Lancaster County Department of Corrections Current Inmates.

Open current inmates
You specifically want a Lincoln Police arrest photo

Lincoln Police Records lists arrest-photo online viewing as a no-charge service.

Open LPD Other Reports
You need the legal case or outcome

Move to Nebraska court records instead of trying to infer the outcome from a mugshot.

Local savings: arrest photos Lincoln Police currently lists online arrest-photo viewing as no charge. Do not pay a third-party site before checking this official route.
Local savings: court search The Nebraska one-time online party-name case search is listed at $15, but Lancaster County’s District Court Clerk says free Nebraska case searching is available at Bennett Martin Public Library.
Travel benefit: long-distance visitor Lancaster County says a special visit may be approved in advance when a visitor must travel more than 150 miles one way.
Visit choice Personal video visitation is available on-site and off-site. On-site visits are one hour; off-site visits are a maximum of 30 minutes and include a fee.

Lancaster County Current Inmate Search

This is the official LCDC search for people currently held at the Lancaster County Adult Detention Facility. It is the first place to check for a current Lincoln/Lancaster County jail booking.

What to do after Current Inmates opens Read the disclaimer first → check the agreement box → select I Agree → search the available inmate information → compare the person carefully → save the identifiers you may need for court, release, mail or visitation.
Facility Lancaster County Adult Detention Facility

Lincoln Police Arrest Photos Are a Separate Search Intent

Lincoln Police Records specifically lists Arrest Photos — Online viewing — No charge. Its arrest-photo link sends users to the official Lancaster County inmate system.

You want a current arrest photo

LPD Arrest Photos: no charge

Open Lincoln Police Other Reports and find the Arrest Photos row. Select Online viewing. You will be routed into the official Lancaster County inmate search.

After the LPD page opens scroll to Arrest Photos → choose Online viewing → accept the LCDC disclaimer → verify the correct person using more than the picture.

Lincoln Police Other Reports

You need older Lincoln Police arrest history

LPD criminal history is different

Lincoln Police currently lists its online LPD arrests-only criminal history report at $10. It is not a statewide Nebraska history and does not include arrests by every other agency.

LPD says computerized arrest records begin January 1, 1980. For older hard-copy arrest records, contact the Records Unit at 402-441-7210.

Use the free route before a paid third-party mugshot page: for a current Lincoln arrest photo, the Lincoln Police page itself identifies a no-charge online viewing route.

No Lincoln Lancaster Inmate Result? Use This Decision Route

Arrest just happened

Allow for transport and intake, then retry the Lancaster County search. Do not assume an immediate no-result proves no arrest occurred.

Person was released

Move to the Nebraska court case or the arresting agency’s records rather than expecting a current-inmate list to act as a permanent booking archive.

Lincoln Police arrest

Use LPD’s arrest-photo/current inmate route or its arrests-only criminal-history service depending on how old the record is.

Sheriff incident

Use the Lancaster County Sheriff’s report system if LSO was the primary investigating agency.

State prison custody

Move to Nebraska Department of Correctional Services incarceration records.

Juvenile / ICE

Do not keep retrying LCDC’s public page. Its disclaimer says juvenile offenders and DHS/ICE administrative detainees are outside this public search.

Bond and Pre-Arraignment Release: Lancaster County Has a Specific Local Process

Lancaster County’s Corrections FAQ says County Court judges determine which charges can be released before a court appearance and the bond amount required.

1 Verify the inmate first. Do not send money based only on a text message, screenshot or third-party page.
2 Call LCDC at 402-441-1900. Ask whether the person is eligible for pre-arraignment release and what amount is currently required.
3 Use one of the county-published payment routes. Lobby kiosk from 7 a.m.–11 p.m.; Release Lobby kiosk from 11 p.m.–7 a.m.; Access Corrections online; or 866-345-1884.
4 Do not bring a personal check. Lancaster County says personal checks are not accepted for this process.
5 Watch the pre-court deadline. The county FAQ states that the deadline to post bond for someone who has not appeared in court is 6 a.m. on the day of arraignment.
6 Allow time after court. Lancaster County says transmission of court paperwork can take four hours or more depending on court caseload.

Why someone may still have to appear in court

  • a judge has ordered the hold;
  • the charge relates to domestic violence;
  • a serious felony is involved;
  • the charge involves sexual assault;
  • a third-offense DUI/refusal situation applies;
  • a District Court warrant is involved;
  • an out-of-state warrant exists; or
  • required bond/fines were not posted.
Bond refund detail: Lancaster County’s FAQ says the bond is typically written in the inmate’s name, so the court ordinarily refunds it to the inmate unless the court is directed otherwise. Full cash bonds are described as fully refundable after the applicable case conditions; the FAQ also explains that many cases permit posting 10% of a bond. Always verify the actual court order for the case before relying on a generic example.

Release timing after sentence or fines

LCDC says its Records Division calculates release dates from the court’s sentencing information and any special judicial orders. The department can disclose an inmate’s release date; more-specific information must generally come from the inmate.

The county FAQ says releases after serving a sentence and/or fines begin processing in the early afternoon, but actual release time depends on workload. Do not promise someone a precise pickup time.

August 2026 Lancaster County Release-Fraud Warning

Lancaster County issued this warning on August 6, 2026: local residents had been contacted by people pretending to work for the Department of Corrections and demanding payment to release someone in custody.
What LCDC says it will not do

No card request by call, text or email

Lancaster County says LCDC will never request credit-card or debit-card information through calls, emails or text messages.

How to verify

Call the jail yourself

Payments are processed on-site or through the Access Corrections system. If a request seems suspicious, independently call 402-441-1900.

If you receive a “pay now for release” message do not use the caller’s link → independently open Lancaster County Corrections → verify the inmate → call 402-441-1900 → use only a payment route confirmed by LCDC.

3 Name the exact document, order or pleading. Choose criminal as the case type when applicable.
4 Choose email or paper copy. Certified-copy costs begin at $1. Paper copies are listed at 25¢ per page and postage may apply.
5 Watch for the response. The form says to expect a reply within two business days. Questions: 402-441-7328, then press 5.
Nebraska Judicial Branch pages have changed over time regarding document-image access through different search products. If a particular filing is what you actually need, use the Lancaster County Clerk request route rather than assuming every online search will display the document.

Lancaster County Video Visitation: Scheduling Rules That Matter Before You Register

General personal visitation is handled through video. Contact visits are currently reserved for professional or administratively approved visits.

On-site

1-hour personal visit

Personal on-site video visits are one hour.

Off-site

Up to 30 minutes

Personal off-site visits are a maximum of 30 minutes and include a fee.

Weekly range

2–7 visits

The number of personal visits depends on the inmate’s housing and classification.

1 Open Lancaster County Video Visitation. Open the current page .
2 Follow the Encartele/CIDNET General Public link. Do not search for an old jail phone/visit vendor separately.
3 Create the visitor account before the first visit.
4 Choose on-site or off-site. Off-site is useful when travel is difficult; review the current fee before booking.
5 Book at least one day ahead. Lancaster County allows scheduling up to seven days in advance and no less than one day prior.
6 Register everyone attending. Up to three visitors are allowed, including children.
Traveling more than 150 miles one way? Lancaster County says a special visit may be approved in advance by the superintendent or shift supervisor. A personal crisis such as a death in the family can also be considered.
Visitors need a qualifying government-issued photo ID or passport. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and must be registered. Dress-code and search rules apply; prohibited attire or behavior can end or prevent the visit.

Online

Access Corrections

Start from Lancaster County’s Corrections page and follow its current Access Corrections link.

Phone

866-345-1884

This is the telephone deposit route published in the current Corrections FAQ.

Online micro-step verify the inmate → open Lancaster County Corrections → select Inmate Account / Commissary → follow Access Corrections → confirm the correct inmate → review the amount and current transaction fee → keep the confirmation.
Lancaster County says commissary ordering occurs Sunday or Monday night depending on where the inmate is housed. Money releases from inmate accounts require a money-release form and are processed and mailed on Thursdays. On release, the remaining inmate-account balance is provided on a debit card.

Current Lancaster County Inmate Phone System: Encartele / CIDNET

This is one area where copying an old jail FAQ can send a family to the wrong vendor.

Current dedicated page

Encartele, Inc. / CIDNET

Lancaster County’s current Inmate Telephones and Messaging page says the department partners with Encartele, Inc. and links the CIDNET public site for account setup.

Open current phone and messaging instructions

Call rules

20-minute telephone limit

Lancaster County says calls disconnect when the 20-minute limit expires. Calls may be monitored and recorded except protected attorney-client calls and ombudsman calls.

Jail staff are not authorized to accept ordinary calls or deliver messages to inmates.

Ignore the stale vendor path: an older Lancaster County FAQ still contains ICSolutions information. For current setup, use the newer dedicated Telephones and Messaging page, which identifies Encartele/CIDNET.

Lancaster County Personal Mail Does Not Go to the Lincoln Jail Address

Common local mistake: personal inmate mail uses Lancaster County’s digital-mail address in Phoenix, Maryland. Do not address ordinary personal correspondence to 3801 West O Street.
Personal digital mail address
Lancaster County Department of Corrections
Inmate Name, Inmate CFN Number
PO Box 247
Phoenix, MD 21131

Lancaster County says mail or packages received without the Inmate Number (CFN) clearly written in the address will be returned to sender.

Personal mail vs packages/legal mail

Personal correspondence

Send to Phoenix, Maryland

Use the digital-mail address above and include the inmate’s CFN.

Authorized packages / books / legal mail

Different routing

Lancaster County says these should still be sent directly to the facility. Check the current Mail page for today’s requirements before sending them.

1 Verify the inmate and CFN.
2 Open the current Inmate Mail page. Lancaster County Inmate Mail .
3 Decide whether it is personal mail or an authorized package/publication/legal item.
4 For personal mail, use PO Box 247 in Phoenix, Maryland and include the CFN.
5 For books or publications, follow the publisher/distribution-center requirement. Lancaster County says publications must come directly from a publisher or national distribution center and must be paperback.

Before Bringing Property to the Lincoln Jail, Call First

Lancaster County recommends calling 402-441-1900 before bringing property because acceptance depends on the item and circumstances.

Typically accepted examples
  • judge-ordered trial clothing;
  • contact lenses;
  • dentures;
  • hearing aids;
Medical / vision examples
  • medical items approved in advance;
  • prescription medication;
  • prescription glasses.
Before driving to 3801 West O Street call 402-441-1900 → identify the inmate → name the exact item → ask whether prior medical/court approval is required → confirm where and when to bring it.

Need an Inmate’s Signature, Power of Attorney or Vehicle-Release Form?

Lancaster County publishes a useful process that many inmate-search pages miss: LCDC provides notary services for incarcerated people through its Programs Department at designated times.

1 Contact the inmate. The inmate should request and schedule notary service through the facility.
2 Ask whether Programs already has the form. Lancaster County says common forms such as power of attorney and vehicle release are kept available.
3 If an original document must be signed, wait for delivery instructions. For something such as a car title, the inmate receives instructions after the Programs appointment is scheduled.
4 For an urgent signature need, call the facility. Lancaster County specifically gives immediate childcare as an example. Call 402-441-1900 and choose the Programs option, or ask at a public lobby.

Police Report vs Sheriff Report: Who Actually Has the Incident Record?

The jail is not automatically the agency that owns the arrest or incident report. In Lincoln/Lancaster County, first identify which law-enforcement agency handled the event.

Lincoln Police Department

City of Lincoln incident

Lincoln Police Records lists public incident-report copies at no charge and operates a public-access counter Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m., except major holidays.

What the Lancaster County Work Release PDF Actually Requires

Lancaster County publishes separate County Court and District Court work-release applications. The District Court criminal application is eight pages and contains several details that are easy to miss if you only download the form and start writing.

Before filling it out
  • complete every question and every page, including the proposed order;
  • use black ink;
  • provide each proposed driver’s license number and date of birth;
  • identify transportation as bus, car, bike or other applicable method;
  • list actual work hours separately from travel time.
Processing
  • written notice of the judge’s decision is provided;
  • the PDF says allow about one week for processing;
  • weekends or holidays can make processing longer;
  • violations can cause suspension or revocation of release.

Where the District Court application can be submitted

Jail route

Work Release Coordinator: 402-441-1939, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Lancaster County’s current FAQ lists work-release cost at $12 for each day in custody.

Local transportation detail from the application

The District Court application specifically references StarTran Route 46 for travel from/to the Adult Detention Facility and requires applicants to separately identify their downtown-to-work bus connection.

Route 46 has changed in recent years. Lincoln Transportation and Utilities implemented Route 46 changes in June 2025. Before relying on the application form’s route wording, verify the current StarTran route and schedule. StarTran: 402-476-1234.
After the Work Release Forms page opens choose County Court or District Court → download the correct form → read every instruction before filling it out → complete transportation details → submit to the correct location → allow processing time → call 402-441-1939 if approval status or rules are unclear.

Nebraska Now Uses NEVCAP for Jail and Community-Corrections Alerts

Older guides may tell you to look for Nebraska VINE. Nebraska’s current system is the Nebraska Victims of Crime Alert Portal (NEVCAP).

Nebraska Department of Correctional Services

NEVCAP support: [email protected]. Nebraska Crime Commission lists immediate victim assistance at 1-800-395-2110. For immediate danger, call 911.

How to Request the Lancaster County Public Defender

The Public Defender is not automatically assigned because someone appears in the inmate search.

1 Ask for appointed counsel. Lancaster County says the person must ask the judge to appoint the Public Defender.
2 Contact the County Court Clerk when a scheduling step is needed. The Public Defender FAQ says the clerk can schedule the person before a judge to request an attorney.
3 Be prepared for financial questions. Appointment depends in part on the seriousness of the charges and whether the judge believes the person can afford private counsel.

When Lancaster County’s Own Pages Conflict, Use This Source Priority

A high-quality jail guide should not silently combine old and new official instructions. Lancaster County currently has several examples where an older FAQ differs from a newer page.

1
Current dedicated service page For phone/messaging, visitation, mail and other changing public procedures, use the newest dedicated page first.
2
Current inmate/custody system Use the live LCDC search for present custody questions, while respecting its disclaimer.
3
Current county FAQ Useful for bond, release, money, property, notary and local operational questions, but compare it with newer dedicated pages.
4
Current official PDF/application Useful when the form itself controls a process such as District Court work release.
5
Third-party directory or saved screenshot Treat as secondary only. It should never override the live county/court source.

Two live conflict examples

Phone vendor conflict: older Lancaster County FAQ content still mentions ICSolutions. The current dedicated Telephones and Messaging page identifies Encartele/CIDNET. Use the dedicated page.
Fine-credit conflict: current Lancaster County FAQ renderings have not always displayed the same daily fine-credit amount. One current mobile FAQ rendering displays $150/day while an older individual FAQ result can show $90/day. Because official pages conflict, confirm the current amount with LCDC/court instead of publishing an old rate as guaranteed.

Bottom Line: Use the Lincoln Record That Matches the Question

Current custody? Lancaster County Current Inmates.
Lincoln Police arrest photo? LPD Other Reports, no-charge online viewing.
Case outcome? Nebraska court records.
Release alert? NEVCAP.
State prison? Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

Once the correct person is verified, the most useful local details are usually not the photograph. They are the inmate identifier/CFN, admitted or custody information, court case details, current release eligibility, correct mail route and the agency that owns the underlying incident report.

That record-first approach also reduces the risk of attaching an arrest allegation to the wrong person or relying on an old third-party mugshot after the custody or court situation has changed.
