Volusia County, Florida • Official-first mugshot & booking guide
Florida Volusia County Mugshots: Recent Arrests, Booking Photos & RecordsFor a recent Volusia County arrest, start with the county’s official inmate-information system—not a copied mugshot gallery. Use Corrections for booking and custody, the Clerk for court-case follow-up, and Florida DOC only when the person has moved into state correctional custody.
Volusia County’s online-services page says its inmate information is updated every 15 minutes, but also warns that the web display is for general informational use and is not the official record for legal action. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office separately directs people seeking mug shots to the Volusia County Corrections public-access system.
Important: A mugshot documents a booking or identification event. It does not prove guilt, conviction, the final charge, or current custody. Verify consequential information through the responsible jail, court, or corrections agency.
01 • Use the right system
Where to Search Volusia County Mugshots and Recent Bookings
The fastest search depends on what you are trying to confirm. In Volusia County, the arresting law-enforcement agency, the county jail system, and the court clerk are separate record sources. Treating them as one database is a common reason people get incomplete or misleading answers.
Volusia County Corrections: booking, inmate and mugshot questions
Use the county’s Online Services inmate-information route when you need current jail information. Volusia says the public online information is updated every 15 minutes, while cautioning that the web result is not the official record for legal action.
Volusia Sheriff: law-enforcement information, not jail operation
The Volusia Sheriff Public Information Office states that mug shots are available through Volusia County Corrections Public Access. The county corrections division is separate from the Sheriff’s Office for jail operations.
Volusia Clerk: criminal case records and docket follow-up
When your question becomes “what happened in court?”, use the Volusia County Clerk Case Inquiry. The Clerk says criminal cases can be searched by name or case number and that some public document images are available from the docket.
Florida DOC: state prison or state supervision records
Florida Department of Corrections records cover felony offenders sentenced to state prison or state supervision. They do not replace the county jail search for a fresh Volusia booking.
Useful site guide: For the broader nationwide method, read our guide to looking up mugshots through official jail and court sources.
02 • Search workflow
How to Search Florida Volusia County Mugshots Step by Step
Use a simple record trail: county custody first, identity verification second, court follow-up third. This reduces wrong-person matches and keeps an old mugshot from being mistaken for a current arrest.
Open the official Volusia inmate-search route
Start from Volusia County’s Online Services page and follow the inmate information search. This is safer than relying on a search-engine image result, copied social-media post, or private arrest gallery.
Search the legal name carefully
Use the spelling shown on official paperwork when available. If a full-name search fails, try a surname search or remove a middle name, suffix, or punctuation variation.
Open the full booking record
Do not stop at the photograph. Compare the booking number, booking date, facility, listed charges, bond information, arresting agency, and any court-related identifier shown.
Confirm more than one identity signal
A name-only match is weak. Use location plus additional identifiers such as booking date, age or date of birth when public, booking number, case number, or arresting agency.
Check current custody separately
A booking photo can remain associated with a past arrest after release or transfer. Look for the current status in the official system and recheck when timing matters.
Move to the Clerk when the question becomes a court question
Use the Clerk’s Case Inquiry for filed case information, docket activity, available public documents, and court follow-up. Jail charges and court charges can diverge as a case develops.
Contact Corrections if the result is incomplete
For booking, bonding, charges, arrest or facility questions, use the current official Corrections contact information listed below.
03 • Read beyond the photo
What Volusia County Booking Record Fields Actually Tell You
The mugshot is only one part of a booking record. The identifiers around it are usually more useful when you are trying to confirm the right person, understand a hold, or continue into court records.
| Field | What it generally tells you | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Booking number | A jail-system identifier for the booking or person in custody. | It is not automatically the criminal court case number. |
| Booking date/time | When jail intake was recorded. | It may differ from the arrest time or court filing date. |
| Charge | The allegation listed at that stage of the custody record. | It is not proof of guilt and may not remain the final filed charge. |
| Bond | A bond amount or status connected with a charge or custody condition. | Posting one bond does not guarantee immediate release if another hold or condition applies. |
| Hold / detainer | Another authority or legal matter may affect release. | The shorthand label alone may not explain the full legal basis. |
| Arresting agency | Which law-enforcement agency is associated with the arrest. | It does not mean that agency operates the jail or court case system. |
| Facility / custody status | Where or how the person is listed in the jail system at the time of the update. | A screenshot may be stale after release or transfer. |
| Court case number | A bridge into the court record when the number is available. | The jail page is not the authoritative source for final case disposition. |

Volusia County Jail Locations and Corrections Phone Numbers
Volusia County’s Corrections contact page lists two county correctional facilities in Daytona Beach. Use the facility and department that matches your question instead of calling the Sheriff’s Office for a jail matter.

05 • Bond and release
How Bond and Release Information Works in Volusia County
Volusia County directs people posting bond or attending a First Appearance hearing to the Branch Jail. The county’s jail-and-bond page states that the Branch Jail Booking Office is open 24/7 and that anyone may post bond in cash or through a bondsman.
Release-timing rule: Volusia County states that, effective April 29, 2024, inmates are not released between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The stated exception is when a responsible party is on site to transport the inmate off Corrections property and checks in with Control before release.
Why “bond posted” may not mean “already released”
Release can still depend on processing, other charges, holds, court orders, transportation arrangements, and correctional procedures. If you are arranging pickup, verify the current status through the Branch Jail rather than driving based on an old screenshot.
Watch for payment scams
Use only official county information and established licensed channels when dealing with bond. Treat unsolicited demands for cryptocurrency, gift cards, payment-app transfers, or secret “jail fees” as a reason to stop and verify directly with the responsible agency.

06 • After the jail record
How to Check the Volusia County Court Case After an Arrest
A jail booking and a criminal court case are related, but they are not the same record. Once you have confirmed the correct booking, use the Clerk when you need the docket, filings, hearings, available public documents, or later case activity.
Use jail records for
Booking, current county custody, mugshot availability, booking number, jail-side charge information, facility status, bond clues and corrections contacts.
Use Clerk records for
Criminal case inquiry, docket events, case numbers, available court documents and later court-stage information.
The Volusia Clerk Search Records page says Case Inquiry supports criminal case searches by name or case number. It also notes that some documents can be viewed online, while others require review before release and some records are nonpublic.
What to save before leaving the jail search
- Full legal name as displayed
- Booking number
- Booking date
- Arresting agency
- Charge descriptions
- Any court or case number shown
Those identifiers make the next search more reliable than repeatedly searching a common name.
07 • Visitation
Volusia County Jail Visitation: What Families Should Know
Volusia County Corrections says visitation is by appointment and takes place Tuesday through Saturday. The county’s instructions say you need the inmate’s 6-digit booking number to schedule a visit.
- Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance and by 9 p.m. before the requested visit day.
- Only one visiting session may be scheduled at a time, and appointments may be made up to two weeks ahead.
- On-site visitors check in at the Video Visitation Building at 1300A Red John Drive, next to the Branch Jail.
- Visitors should check in 10 minutes before the scheduled session.
- The first 72 hours of incarceration have visitation restrictions because of classification, housing changes, court appearances and medical evaluations.
- Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Because visitation rules can change, use the current Volusia County visitation page before scheduling or traveling.
08 • When county custody is no longer the right system
When to Use Florida Department of Corrections Instead
Florida Department of Corrections is the right follow-up when a person is connected to Florida state prison or state supervision. FDC says its offender information covers felony offenders sentenced to the Department of Corrections and does not include people sentenced only to county jail, county probation, or other non-FDC supervision.
A fresh local booking belongs in the county corrections system. If the person later enters state correctional custody, switch to the Florida Department of Corrections offender-search route.
Custody notifications
Florida DOC also publishes information about VINE, a free notification service that can provide custody-location and tentative-release information and can send certain release, transfer and other custody-status notifications. Review the official Florida VINE information for current availability and registration details.
09 • Troubleshooting
Why a Volusia County Mugshot or Inmate Result May Be Missing
No search result does not automatically prove that no arrest occurred. Check the record path and timing before drawing a conclusion.
The arrest was very recent
Intake, identification, booking, medical screening, classification and public-system updates do not always finish at the same moment. Volusia’s public inmate information is updated frequently, but a very recent arrest can still be mid-process.
The name format is different
Try spelling variations, remove punctuation, search the surname first, and check whether a suffix or middle name is affecting the result. When you already have a booking number, use it wherever the system allows.
The person was released or transferred
A current-inmate view may change after release or transfer. A historical booking photo can remain visible elsewhere even when the current custody status has changed.
You are searching the wrong system
A city police department may make the arrest while Volusia County Corrections creates the jail record. The Sheriff’s Office and Corrections also perform different functions. Use the agency that actually maintains the record you need.
The court record is restricted or not online
The Clerk notes that some documents require review before online release and some case types or documents are nonpublic. Do not attempt to bypass a sealed, confidential, juvenile, or otherwise restricted record.
Practical rule: If the official jail search is blank but the arrest is known to have occurred, verify the spelling and jurisdiction, allow for intake timing, then call the appropriate corrections contact. Do not use a private mugshot repost as a substitute for current custody confirmation.

11 • Responsible use
How to Use Volusia Mugshot Information Safely
Booking information is easy to misread when it is separated from its date, jurisdiction and later court record. Use the official source to verify the person and custody event, then use the court record if the legal outcome matters.
- Do not equate arrest with guilt. A charge is an allegation unless and until it results in a conviction.
- Do not use a face-only match. Compare identifiers and jurisdiction.
- Do not describe an old mugshot as a current arrest without verifying the date.
- Do not assume jail charges are the final court charges.
- Do not bypass sealed or restricted records.
- Do not use this site as a consumer background report. Jail-Mugshots.org is not a consumer reporting agency and should not be used for employment, housing, credit, insurance or another regulated eligibility decision.

For a Volusia County mugshot or recent arrest, begin with the county Corrections inmate-information route. Verify more than the photograph, record the booking identifiers, and check current custody rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Move to the Clerk when you need the criminal court case. Use Florida DOC only when the person is in state correctional custody or supervision. If bond, release, visitation or pickup timing matters, confirm it directly with the current official county source before taking action.
