FL Mugshots Volusia County: Search Recent Arrests, Jail & Court RecordsFor current Volusia County mugshots and jail information, begin with the county’s official Corrections inmate search. Use the Clerk’s 24-hour arrest files for recent bookings and the court-record system when you need to know what happened after the arrest.
Looking for FL mugshots in Volusia County? Use the Volusia County Division of Corrections Public Access search first. Volusia County states that its inmate information is updated every 15 minutes, but the online information is still informational rather than the official legal record.
A mugshot confirms a booking or identification event. It does not prove guilt, establish a conviction, or by itself confirm that the person remains in jail.
Official Volusia County Mugshot and Inmate Search
Volusia County Division of Corrections operates the public-access system used to search county jail inmate information and booking photographs when a photograph is available.
The correct starting point is the Volusia County Corrections Public Access portal. The county’s online-services information says inmate data is updated every 15 minutes.
The county’s disclaimer is important. Information displayed through the public inmate website is intended for general informational use and is not the official record for legal action. Records maintained by the responsible government office remain the authoritative source.
Do not identify someone from a photograph alone. Compare the name, booking date, booking number, age or date of birth when available, arresting agency, charges and other official identifiers before deciding that a record belongs to a particular person.
If you need a broader explanation of the process, use our guide to looking up mugshots through official jail and court sources.
How to Search FL Mugshots in Volusia County
The most useful search does more than locate a photograph. It establishes the booking, checks current custody, identifies the jail record and connects the booking to the court case when necessary.
Open the official county inmate search
Go directly to Volusia County Corrections Public Access. Accept the county disclaimer before entering the search system.
Search the legal name carefully
Start with the person’s legal first and last name. If the first attempt fails, check spelling, suffixes, middle names and reasonable name variations rather than immediately relying on a third-party mugshot page.
Open the complete booking record
Do not stop at a thumbnail or photograph. Review the booking information, charges, custody details, bond information and identifiers displayed with the record.
Verify that you have the correct person
Compare several identifiers. A common first and last name or facial resemblance is not enough for a reliable match.
Check the daily arrest files if the booking is very recent
The Volusia County Clerk provides daily Arrest/Booking Download files containing recent 24-hour arrest information created from County of Volusia Jail Management System data.
Use the Clerk when the question becomes a court question
Once you need filed charges, docket activity, hearings or case disposition, move from the jail record to the Clerk of Circuit Court’s case inquiry tools.
Our free mugshot lookup guide explains the same official-first workflow for other counties and states.
How to Check Volusia County 24-Hour Arrests
The Volusia County Clerk’s public-record system includes an Arrest/Booking Download. The Clerk explains that these files are created by the County of Volusia from Jail Management System data.
The reports provide daily 24-hour arrest information for people arrested and booked into the Branch Jail during the previous reporting period. Recent files are offered in downloadable formats.
When the 24-hour report is most useful
- an arrest happened very recently;
- you want to review a day’s booking activity;
- a person has not yet been easy to locate through another search route;
- you need booking information before moving to the court record; or
- you are checking whether a social-media claim matches an actual recent booking.
Important limitation: The Clerk states that some records may be withheld from the arrest reports because of statutory exemptions. A missing name therefore should not automatically be interpreted as proof that no arrest occurred.
Current inmate search vs. 24-hour arrest file
| Question | Best source | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Is someone currently listed in the county jail system? | Corrections Public Access | Designed for current public inmate information. |
| Who was booked during the recent 24-hour reporting period? | Arrest/Booking Download | Daily files focus on recent arrest and booking activity. |
| What happened after the booking? | Clerk Case Inquiry | Court records are the better source for docket and disposition information. |
| What is the current bond or release procedure? | Corrections jail and bond information | This page covers bond contacts, First Appearance and release procedures. |

What Information Should You Verify Around a Volusia Mugshot?
A booking photograph is only one part of the jail record. The surrounding data is what helps you determine whether the result actually matches the person and whether the information is still current.
| Field | What it tells you | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Booking photo | A photograph associated with the booking or jail identification process. | Guilt, conviction or present custody. |
| Booking number | An identifier connected with the jail intake. | That it is the same as the criminal court case number. |
| Booking date | When the jail recorded the intake. | The exact time of the underlying alleged offense. |
| Charge | The allegation associated with the booking stage. | The final filed charge or case outcome. |
| Bond | A listed bond amount or status when provided. | That release will occur immediately after one payment. |
| Facility | The jail or correctional location associated with custody. | That a later transfer has not occurred. |
| Release information | A custody release event or projected information when displayed. | That the criminal court case has ended. |
If a mugshot appears on a copied website or social-media post, reopen the official county record before sharing the allegation. Old photographs can circulate long after custody or court status has changed.
Use Volusia County Court Records After the Booking
The jail record answers booking and custody questions. It does not replace the court docket.
The Volusia County Clerk of Circuit Court public-record system provides Case Inquiry and other criminal-record tools. Criminal case files are generally available for public viewing unless access is restricted by law or court order.
Use the court record when you need to know
- whether a criminal case was filed;
- the court case number;
- scheduled or recorded court events;
- whether charges changed after booking;
- whether a case was dismissed or otherwise disposed of;
- whether public docket documents are available; or
- which court is handling the matter.
A booking charge and a final court disposition are different stages of the process. Do not describe someone as convicted merely because an arrest or booking record exists.
Record hierarchy: use Corrections for jail custody and booking information, the Clerk for court records, and the law-enforcement agency responsible for the arrest when you need an arrest or incident report.
Volusia County Bond, First Appearance and Release Information
Volusia County directs bond questions to the Branch Jail Booking Office. The county lists 386-254-1555 for the Branch Jail and states that the Booking Office is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The county also lists 386-254-1540 for booking, bonding, charges and arrest information.
First Appearance
Volusia County’s Corrections FAQ explains that a person held after arrest generally appears before a judge for a First Appearance hearing within one day of jail admission. The judge may address probable cause, bond and other release conditions depending on the case.
Release processing is not instant
After a person becomes eligible for release, jail staff still must complete the required paperwork and processing. The county states that once release processing begins, it can take approximately two to four hours depending on the circumstances.
Effective April 29, 2024, Volusia County states that inmates are not released between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless a responsible party is on site to transport the person from Corrections property. The responsible party must check in with Control.
Scam warning: Volusia County Corrections warns that jail staff will not solicit bond money. Be cautious of callers or messages demanding payment through services such as Zelle, PayPal, Cash App or cryptocurrency while claiming to represent jail staff or a bondsman.
For the current rules, use the county’s official jail and bond information page.

Visitation After You Find the Correct Inmate
If your real goal is to visit someone rather than simply find a mugshot, switch to the county’s current visitation information after confirming the booking number.
Volusia County says on-site visitation is appointment-based and takes place at the Visitation Center next to the Branch Jail at 1300A Red John Drive.
Useful current visitation points
- You need the inmate’s six-digit booking number to schedule a visit.
- Visitors age 18 or older must present qualifying photo identification.
- Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and have acceptable identification documentation.
- Electronic devices such as phones and cameras are prohibited in the visitation building.
- Visits are restricted during the initial 72 hours of incarceration unless approved by the Operations Supervisor.
- Appointments must be made in advance under the county’s current scheduling rules.
Schedules and vendor procedures can change. Check the official Volusia County visitation page before making a trip.
Why a Volusia County Mugshot or Inmate Record May Not Appear
A blank search result does not automatically establish that no arrest occurred. Several ordinary record-system issues can produce a no-result search.
The booking is still being processed
An arrest can happen before the public jail record is fully available. Transport, identification, fingerprints, medical intake and booking are separate steps.
The person has already been released
A current-inmate view may behave differently after release. Check the recent Arrest/Booking Download and court records instead of relying only on the current inmate list.
The person was transferred
County custody can end because of transfer to another correctional system. A past Volusia booking does not guarantee that the person remains in a Volusia facility.
The name search is too narrow
Try correcting spelling, removing a middle name or suffix, or checking the booking report for the relevant date.
The arrest happened in another jurisdiction
A Volusia-area incident does not always mean Volusia County Corrections holds the person. Confirm the arresting agency and receiving jail.
The record is restricted
Some information may be confidential, sealed, expunged, statutorily exempt or otherwise unavailable to the public.
Do not attempt to bypass access restrictions. Use lawful public-record procedures and the appropriate record custodian.
Volusia Corrections vs. Sheriff vs. Clerk: Which Agency Do You Need?
These offices handle different parts of the record trail. Volusia County specifically states that its Division of Corrections is separate from the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
| Agency | Use it for | Do not confuse it with |
|---|---|---|
| Volusia County Division of Corrections | Inmate search, booking information, jail facilities, bond, release procedures and visitation. | Court disposition or a city police incident report. |
| Volusia Sheriff’s Office | Sheriff law-enforcement services, sheriff public records and agency information. | The operator of Volusia County Corrections. |
| Volusia County Clerk of Circuit Court | Criminal case inquiry, docket activity, public court records and daily arrest/booking downloads. | The live county jail custody system. |
| Florida Department of Law Enforcement | State criminal-history services and official Florida seal/expunge process information. | The county jail booking database. |
The Sheriff’s Public Information Office also directs mugshot questions to Volusia County Corrections Public Access.
Florida Sealed and Expunged Arrest Records
If your concern is an old Florida arrest record rather than a current jail search, use official Florida Department of Law Enforcement guidance.
FDLE explains that adult Florida criminal-history records are generally public unless an applicable record has been sealed or expunged. Eligibility for record relief depends on Florida law and the person’s specific criminal history and disposition.
A Certificate of Eligibility is not the final court order
FDLE explains that obtaining a Certificate of Eligibility is a required step for certain court-ordered sealing or expungement processes, but the certificate itself does not seal or expunge the record. A petition still must proceed through the appropriate court.
Private mugshot websites are different
FDLE also explains that a court-ordered seal or expungement does not necessarily erase arrest information already held by privately operated websites. Private publishers are not the same as the government record custodian.
For current requirements, use the FDLE Seal and Expunge FAQ.
Use Mugshot and Arrest Information Responsibly
A mugshot can be genuine while the surrounding claim is wrong. An old image can be reposted as new. A booking charge can later be amended or dismissed. A person can be released while the booking photograph remains online.
Before sharing or relying on a record
- confirm that the source is an official government system;
- confirm Volusia County is the correct jurisdiction;
- verify more than the person’s name or photograph;
- check the booking date;
- check current custody separately;
- use the court record for the legal outcome; and
- avoid repeating an allegation as if it were a proven fact.
